This is a long overdue post that I wasn’t able to write our experiences in securing our NBI clearance in General Santos City Branch. I was caught up by the events that happened for the past few days. Anyways, we received our NBPNP application AOR on October 27, 2017. In anticipation that the NBPNP nomination will arrive soon, Fritz and I decided to secure our NBI clearance on November 20, 2017. I also grabbed the opportunity since I was on leave from work that day. We aimed that once we will receive that CIC ITA, we can submit the full application immediately.
We tried to apply online but the we didn’t pursue our online application because paying thru credit card is not included in their payment options. Payment options available are only:
- Over the counter payment at their accredited banks such us BDO, BPI and Metrobank.
- Online banking app such as BDO Internet Banking, BPI Express Online, Chinabank Online, Metrobank Direct, RCBC Access one, Unionbank EON/Internet Banking & UCPB Connect.
- Mobile payment like GCash
- Bayad Centers and their partners such us Cebuana Lhuillier, 711, SM Savemore, LBC, Robinsons, eBiz, Petnet, USSC, Tambunting and Palawan Pawnshop.
For us, it will be more convenient to go straight to NBI office than to apply online then pay at any Bayad Centers or banks.
It was not that busy when we arrive at the NBI office. We were entertained right away. The first stop was the releasing of the application form. After filling out the form, we returned the form together with our passport (or any valid ID) for the pre-screening. Then we were directed to proceed for the encoding of our data online. Here, we paid Php20 for the encoding. Third stop was at the cashier. We paid Php115 each NBI clearance. The last stop was the picture taking and the biometrics. We only took 45 minutes and we were done.
We were advised to return on December 1, 2017 to claim our printed clearance. I asked Fritz to claim my NBI clearance on my behalf since I can’t go out from work. He brought with him my receipt, authorization letter, and photocopy of 3 valid IDs with 4 specimen signatures. But he was advised that I should claim it personally because I need to appear for an interview.
I was able to claim my NBI clearance on December 5, 2017 before we traveled to Davao City for our medical examination. And yes, I had a short interview (I don’t know the name of the interviewer and his position). The interviewer just asked me what year I started using my current family name. Afterward, he wrote on the paper for some recommendations then hand it to me for my NBI clearance printing. I was then asked to sign an Affidavit of Denial before my NBI Clearance be printed. After my interview, I learned that someone with the same name, with exact spelling from Davao City had a case filed in court sometime 2002.
If you have an old NBI clearance, it is advisable to bring it with you in applying for a new NBI clearance. It will take less time for encoding as well as you won’t need an interview in claiming your NBI clearance if incase you are hit (those people who have case file don court that their name is same with yours).
